NABC
My interest in remaining on the Board of Directors of the NABC is threefold;
First I can bring multiple perspectives to the board; this is due to my not only being involved with a corporate sponsor but also as a multiple shop owner. I feel that this gives me a unique perspective to help guide this great organization.
Secondly I believe strongly in what we are trying to accomplish. We have a great industry with many truly talented and civic minded families and someone needs to recognize those efforts.
Lastly it is a marvelous venue to sit down in an environment that is non-confrontational with all facets of the industry and one sole purpose, “to improve the image of the industry”.
Thanks for considering my nomination to the NABC Board of Directors
Robert
Toles - Biography
Born with a natural mechanical aptitude, Robert began repairing things alongside his father at a young age. His father, a research engineer at General Motors, once told Robert if you can take it apart it can be fixed. By age 14, Robert’s passion for repair had grown to include cars, evolving into 34+ years of professional collision repair experience and expertise.
In addition to seven (7) years in basic collision repair and ten (10) years of heavy wreck repair, Robert has ten (10) years experience in managing state-of-the-art collision repair facilities producing as much as $900K monthly. Additionally, Robert has spent the past seven (7) years as a labor developer with Motor Information Systems as subject matter expert on collision damage and vehicle construction.
Robert’s passion for collision
repair, his extensive experience and his passion to do the
right thing combine to assist him in analyzing all aspects
of issues relative to collision labor. Robert holds
certifications as ASE Master Collision Repair Technician,
I-CAR Platinum Collision Repair Technician and is a member
of Society of American Engineers (SAE) and Equipment Tool
Institute (ETI). Robert is also a member of the SAE
Collision Sector Committee and CIC Estimating Committee as
well as a past participant in ASE Test Development. As a
SME, Robert participates in industry events, panel
discussions and association meetings, providing insight and
expertise on collision repair. As an I-CAR Platinum
Instructor, Robert shares his knowledge and expertise with
those pursuing careers in collision repair and seeking
associated certifications.
Robert and his wife, Susan, have been married for 31 years
and have two sons, Rob, 24, and Bruce, 22. In addition to
his passion for cars, Robert enjoys the outdoors, golf,
camping and sharing good times with family and friends.
Robert’s message to NABC board members:
As a young technician, I attended ASA meetings and other
industry events, giving me greater insight into the
multi-faceted collision repair industry as a whole. These
experiences were instrumental in my becoming an I-CAR
instructor, enabling me to share my experience and expertise
with an upcoming generation of repair professionals.
The collision repair industry has battled a negative
perception for far too long, impeding even the best
intentions. The experience and knowledge I have acquired
over the years is a true blessing in my life. I would be
honored to be selected to serve on NABC’s board and look
forward to continuing to represent the collision repair
industry with ethics and integrity in a positive light.
Sincerely
Robert Toles
David Henderson
President
AutoWatch
David entered the body repair business right after graduating from High School, and has been involved in the body repair industry for over 30 years. After meeting David, you’ll notice right away that he has a sincere passion for the body repair industry.
Over the 30 years in the body repair business there have been many changes. David has always strived to use the latest technology available to the body repair industry. In his last 16 years as a technician, he was employed at Art Moran Pontiac (Southfield, Michigan). During his years there he started a company newspaper, organized the company meetings, spoke at the meetings, and was instrumental in taking a small, non-profitable body shop to the number one producing body shop in the US. David was directly involved in securing the building, laying out the facility, streamlining the work flow, setting standards for employees, and evaluating equipment.
David became involved with personal computers at the time when the market was just beginning to emerge. After purchasing his first home computer, he realized the tremendous potential computers offered, and developed a real love for working with them. As the body repair industry moved towards computer estimating and networking, David kept Art Moran Pontiac in step with technology with the installation and maintenance of a computer network. After years working with computers and learning how they operate, David began to learn about web site development. His love for computers and his knowledge of the body repair industry was a natural mix in the creation of the AutoWatch system.
David left Art Moran and began marketing AutoWatch full time in June of 2000, and is currently the President of See Progress Inc. His practical experience in the body shop has proven invaluable in the creation and enhancement of the AutoWatch system. His many years spent in the body shop have saved much time in developing programs that are compatible with the body shop environment.

Looking Forward in the Collision Industry
I would like to continue on the NABC Board helping the industry as I can. It is fulfilling to be able to return something to an industry that has been so instrumental in my life. Our efforts to be productive in the industry takes many different paths from assisting shops to industry support to leave a better industry than we found it.
My background as a repairer, adjuster, industry advocate/lobbyist and administrator would, I feel, bring a wealth of knowledge and support for issues which face the industry and therefore pose an on-going challenge to the NABC Board to assist its members in these solutions.
Therefore, I am asking that you attend the annual NABC meeting in Las Vegas and consider favorably a vote for me to retaining a position on the Board of Directors. The Annual Meeting will be held Thursday November 2, 2006 from 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. in the Mariner B Meeting Room at the Mandalay Bay Hotel.
Should you wish to contact me concerning my participation in NABC you may reach me at 816-519-5862 or email me at margosmith@storminc.com.
